About me
I was born in Brighton in the UK, and I studied Visual Art and Geography at Aberystwyth and then Printmaking at Central Saint Martins, in London. Since moving to Australia’s far south coast in 2003, my work has evolved through painting and artist books that explore place, memory, faith and spirituality. I was ordained as an Anglican priest in 2013, and I see creativity and faith as inseparable — both acts of curiosity and renewal.
Artists books, assemblages and small sculptures
An artist’s book isn’t just a book—the pages are where the act of reading becomes an experience of touch, sight, rhythm, and surprise. It’s a sculpture disguised as a story or a gallery that fits in your hands.
Born at the crossroads of literature and visual art, an artist’s book is a work of art in the form of a book—or sometimes a book in the form of a work of art. Ultimately, an artist’s book is a container of meaning that doesn’t just tell, but shows, asks, provokes. It’s a book that doesn’t just sit on a shelf.
Since 2023 I’ve been working on a series called 100 Uncommon Books of Prayer. If you grew up in the Anglican Church you may be familiar with the prayer book that has united Anglicans around the world for over 400 years, called The Book of Common Prayer. The books in this series are made about, with and for prayer although they’re often quite different in form to a prayer book that you’d usually find in a church.
